How to find videos or sound recordings

Ways to Find Videos in the Library
When you know the title of an item, do a "Title Keyword" search in Dixie Cat. Remember when doing a keyword search you don't have to type in all the little words like "a, an, the, to", etc. If you were looking for the video "The Story of America's Greatest Volcanoes" you could use these keywords: "story greatest volcanoes"

To find videos on a specific subject do a "General Keyword" search and add the word videorecording. Example: "astronomy and videorecording"

To see a list of a particular kind of videos, such as documentaries, do a "Subject Browse" search. Example: "documentary films"

Ways to Find Sound Recordings (Audio tapes, CDs, phonographs)
The easiest way to find a sound recording is to do a title search. This will work even if you are looking for a particular musical composition or song on a CD. Example: "Concerto No. 1 in A Minor"

As with videos, you can do a "General Keyword" search for a subject and add the words sound recording. Example: "reggae and sound recording"

For spoken word recordings (books on tape), a title or author search is usually best. Look for "sound recording" in the title information.
