Special Collections & Archives

Special Collections & Archives, in keeping with its mission and vision, contains selected local, family, and historical materials about the geo­graph­ically contig­uous areas of Washington County, the Arizona Strip, and the Big Muddy region of Nevada, as well as materials documenting the history of Dixie State University. The collec­tion may contain materials or ephemera that are out-of-print; need special handling; or that may be irreplaceable, fragile, rare, etc. Special Collections materials may not be checked out and must be used under supervision in the Special Collections Reading Room.

The Special Collections Librarian and Archivist Kathleen Broeder is responsible for the management and maintenance of the collections. If you are interested in donating items or funds to the DSU Special Collections & Archives, please consult the accessions policy before contacting the librarian at 435-652-7718 or kathleen.broeder@dixie.edu.

Special Collections is located in the Holland Centennial Commons in the northeast corner of the 3rd floor, room 330. Please ring the doorbell access and assis­tance if the doors are closed.


Monday-Friday 10am – 12pm and 1pm – 5pm* or by appointment.

*Note: Hours are subject to staff availability. Special Collections will be closed during state-recognized holidays. It is preferred that an appoint­ment be made to ensure access at your convenience, especially if you are traveling. Please make an appoint­ment if you are traveling from outside Washington County.
